ASPİLSAN Enerji Silindirik Lityum İyon Pil Tesisi Üretime Hazır

The cylindrical lithium-ion battery cell production plant would minimize foreign dependency in the defense industry, according to Ferhat Özsoy, General Manager of ASPİLSAN Enerji. The cells will be exported to Europe, and Türkiye will become a battery warehouse, he added.

The Turkish Armed Forces Foundation owns 98 percent of ASPİLSAN Enerji, which adds to Turkey’s power by producing battery cells and batteries tailored to equipment used on land, air, and sea according to the needs of the Turkish Armed Forces (TAF) and private sector.

ASPİLSAN Enerji designs and manufactures a wide range of batteries used in aircraft, radios, weapon systems, thermal systems, robotics, and medical devices, battery blocks, chargers, battery protection, and management circuits also provides testing, analyzing, and engineering services for the same.

The lithium-ion battery cell production plant, whose foundation was set last year in Mimarsinan Organized Industrial Zone and will commence mass production in the near future, has been completed, according to Ferhat Özsoy, General Manager of ASPİLSAN Enerji.

According to Özsoy, lithium-ion technology is used in many fields now, and a new “technology age” has begun by bringing technology to Turkey that was previously unavailable.

Özsoy claimed that a new facility for energy storage has been created in line with the needs of the private sector, particularly the defence industry, as a vital step toward mass manufacturing.

The facility will cost 1 billion 500 million Turkish liras to build

Özsoy added that the plant was finished for around 1 billion 500 million Turkish liras and that the efforts made at the outset will result in billions of liras in investments.

Özsoy, pil üretiminde yerli ve milli olmanın önemini anlatarak, “Türkiye dünyadaki enerji depolama sistemlerinin artık arkasından gelen değil, bu yatırımla onların en önünde gelen aktörlerinden olan biri haline geldi. Türkiye gelecekte bir pil ülkesi olacak. Çünkü gelecekte her şey pille çalışacak. Teknoloji pilsiz olmayacak. Uzaydan, elimizdeki cep telefonuna kadar tüm platformlarda pil üretimi ülkemizde gelişecek Avrupa’ya ihraç yapacağız, bölgenin pil deposu haline geleceğiz. Gelecekte de bizi çağdaş teknolojiye ulaştıracak bir hamleyi başlattık.” ifadelerini kullandı.

Özsoy "Our defence industry's foreign dependency will be avoided, especially with implicit embargoes. Our electronic or weapon system designers will be free to create whatever they want, "said.

"Our country's reliance on foreign sources will decline, particularly in the field of electric vehicles, and later in the defence industry. The plant will contribute significantly to Turkey's value-added product production."

Patent ve lisans ile üretim yapılacak

The production is done with national technology, not with a patent or license from another company according to Nihat Aksüt, Director of ASPİLSAN Enerji Investment Projects Management Office.

"The capacity of the cylindrical cell is 2800 mAh and the voltage is 3.65V," Aksüt added, emphasizing that all intellectual and industrial property rights belong to ASPİLSAN Enerji. Our facility's annual production capacity is 220 MWh, 60 cells per minute, 21 million 600 thousand cells per year. "

Aksüt pointed out that not only NMC but also other lithium-ion chemistry cells can be produced in the battery cell production facility, and that the facility is environmentally friendly.

According to Aksüt, the plant has a dry area of 2 thousand 10 square meters, which is more than the sum of all dry area in Turkey.

Aksüt also reported that the machine line's installation, commissioning, and site acceptance tests have been completed and that they are in trial production and would begin mass production in June.

Aksüt, fabrikanın öneminden bahsederek “ASPİLSAN Enerji’nin ilk lityum iyon şarj edilebilir silindirik pil üretim tesisinin bir niteliği var Avrupa’da bu kategoride seri üretime gelmiş ilk tesis olmasıdır.” diye konuştu.
