A lithium-ion battery fire drill was conducted in cooperation between ASPİLSAN Enerji and the Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality

The workshop aimed to contribute to the safe use of lithium-ion batteries, which are becoming increasingly widespread both globally and in Türkiye, by sharing preventive measures and proper intervention methods against potential risks. The event featured practical drills and was attended by occupational health and safety specialists from defense industry companies, as well as fire department officials from various provinces.

Prof. Ahmet Turan Özdemir, General Manager of ASPİLSAN Enerji, made the following statement about the event: “Energy storage technologies are rapidly becoming widespread in every aspect of our lives. Ensuring the safe use of these technologies is a shared responsibility for all of us. The workshop held in Kayseri provided an important platform for knowledge and experience sharing for both the industry and public authorities. We believe that the knowledge and experience gained by our participants will make a significant contribution to enhancing safety within the ecosystem.”

Prof. Özdemir thanked the Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality for their support of the workshop and said, “Taking the first step from Kayseri on such a critical issue once again demonstrated our city’s and country’s leading role in the field of energy technologies.”

During the drills and test activities conducted at the end of the workshop, methods for extinguishing battery fires using extinguishers with different chemical compositions were demonstrated practically. Participants had the opportunity to gain hands-on experience that will enhance their preparedness for potential emergencies.

This event, carried out in cooperation between ASPİLSAN Enerji and the Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality, established a model example for the ecosystem in the fields of energy storage and safety.
