ASPİLSAN Enerji Leads $52M Technology Transfer and $600K Export Collaboration
ASPİLSAN Enerji has signed a comprehensive agreement with Top Material, South Korea’s leading cell developer technology company, covering a lithium-ion battery production line investment, technology transfer, and export cooperation to be carried out under the leadership of ASPİLSAN Enerji.
Within the scope of the agreement, a turnkey contract worth $5.2 million will be implemented for the installation of a lithium-ion battery cell production line, along with an additional $600,000 agreement for the export of electrode materials to be carried out by ASPİLSAN Enerji.
With this project, ASPİLSAN Enerji will further strengthen its domestic production and advanced engineering capabilities, while Top Material will contribute to the processes of technology transfer and production line installation within the scope of the project.
This agreement demonstrates that the cooperation between ASPİLSAN Enerji and Top Material, ongoing since 2021, has been elevated to a new strategic level. Having previously contributed to the establishment of Türkiye’s first cylindrical lithium-ion battery cell production infrastructure, this collaboration is now reaching a more advanced stage with the new investment.
Under the newly signed agreement, a production line for LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) cells will be established, with commissioning planned for 2027. The new generation high-power LFP battery cells to be developed and manufactured by ASPİLSAN Enerji are intended for use in defense, advanced industrial applications, mission and safety-critical systems, and are expected to contribute to increasing the localization rate in critical technologies.
This collaboration also represents one of the first and reference model partnerships between South Korea and Türkiye that integrates local production, technology acquisition, and exports to third countries, marking an important milestone in international industrial cooperation.
This structure, going beyond technology transfer, strengthens ASPİLSAN Enerji’s position in the global value chain. By supplying the battery cells and electrodes developed in its own production facilities, ASPİLSAN Enerji will carry out high value-added exports from Türkiye.
ASPİLSAN Enerji General Manager Prof. Dr. Ahmet Turan Özdemir made the following statement regarding the cooperation: 'We are pleased to take our collaboration with Top Material to a higher level. This agreement not only provides technology transfer to our country but also represents a strategic turning point in positioning ASPİLSAN Enerji as a player that develops and exports technology in global markets. While strengthening our domestic capabilities, we will continue to grow globally through high value-added exports and strategic partnerships.
Top Material CEO Whan Jin Roh stated: 'This contract reflects our technological expertise in lithium-ion battery production line installation and our global competitiveness. We will continue to strengthen our strong partnership with ASPİLSAN Enerji and further develop our presence in Türkiye.
ASPİLSAN Enerji will continue to contribute to Türkiye’s energy independence and enhance its global competitiveness through strategic partnerships and advanced technology investments.
