ASPİLSAN Enerji: Powering Defense Industry for 44 Years

Founded in 1981 with the donations of philanthropists in Kayseri, ASPİLSAN Enerji has been meeting the long-life battery needs of many energy sectors, primarily the Turkish Armed Forces, for 44 years.

The foundation of ASPİLSAN Enerji was laid on April 2, 1981, in Kayseri Organized Industrial Zone with the donations of the people of Kayseri. Over the past 44 years, the company, which has made significant contributions to the defense industry in the energy sector, has reached the capacity to produce batteries for more than 300 different products, including military and civilian equipment, as well as for national fighter jets, helicopters, and space vehicles.

The factory, which exports batteries to different countries around the world, also manufactures Turkey's first lithium-ion batteries and continues its work for both the defense and private sectors.

"We will continue to work, produce, and innovate"

ASPİLSAN Enerji's General Manager, Ahmet Turan Özdemir, stated that the company produces important and strategic products for Turkey.

Özdemir mentioned that the factory, whose foundations were laid on April 2, 1981, in Kayseri Organized Industrial Zone, was transferred to the Turkish Armed Forces Foundation with the support of philanthropists.

Describing their achievements as the firsts in Turkey, Özdemir said, "We are celebrating our 44th year, a 44-year journey filled with hard work and innovation. We have developed the energy investments made by our founders, always staying aligned with technology and adapting to the trends of the day. Today, we can produce innovative products that compete on a global scale. This is an ongoing journey, and it will not stop. We will continue to work, produce, and innovate."

"We are a core company."

Özdemir, emphasizing that the defense industry is a source of national pride, stated that they have produced and delivered products for many platforms.

Özdemir, highlighting their ongoing contribution to exports and their efforts to increase Turkey's strength and prestige on the international stage, continued his speech as follows:

"By the grace of God, we generate the energy for the platforms and products produced in this ecosystem. We provide energy and power to the mechanisms that drive them. Our position in the defense industry spans from land vehicles to naval vessels, submarines to torpedoes, aerial vehicles to drones, and from producing the battery for our national fighter jet to working on qualified batteries for space projects. We are working with all our strength in this regard."

ASPİLSAN Enerji holds a significant place in the sector. The reason for this is that we are one of the companies affiliated with the Turkish Armed Forces Foundation. We are a core company that supplies energy to almost all platforms of our companies such as ASELSAN, ROKETSAN, and TUSAŞ. From raw materials to batteries, energy management circuits, batteries, mechanical designs, enclosures, molds, and the final product, we provide all production and engineering services under this umbrella."

Referring to NATO reports, Özdemir pointed out that the defense industry in the world and Turkey is becoming smarter. "The number of devices operating in the field has increased exponentially. All these independent systems need an energy source. That’s why our facility holds such a critical position and feature," he said.

Özdemir also added that the company’s R&D centers are working on the electronic and mechanical design of battery packs, as well as software development.
