Founded in 1981 in Kayseri with the donations of philanthropists, ASPİLSAN Enerji produces batteries for rail systems in various cities across Türkiye.
Established in 1981 with contributions from benevolent businesspeople, ASPİLSAN Enerji strengthens the Turkish Armed Forces (TAF) by producing batteries and power supplies specifically designed for military equipment.
With its factories producing batteries for more than 300 devices, ASPİLSAN Enerji supports renewable energy sources through environmentally friendly batteries and invests in the clean energy market.
The company conducts its investment efforts with a focus on localization, and within this scope, also manufactures batteries for rail systems.
Today, ASPİLSAN Enerji operates not only in Kayseri but also in cities like Samsun, Istanbul, Adana, Bursa, and İzmir. The company is also involved in many major projects such as TCDD (Turkish State Railways), Turkish Rail System Vehicles Industry Inc. (TÜRASAŞ), and the Istanbul Airport Metro Line Project.
General Manager Ahmet Turan Özdemir stated that they have been working for Türkiye’s energy independence for 44 years.
Özdemir noted that their work spans from a 10-watt cylindrical cell to energy storage solutions at the megawatt level.
He emphasized that they operate in line with the needs of the heroic Turkish army, while also producing products for the private sector.
Özdemir highlighted that ASPİLSAN Enerji has a portfolio of more than 300 products, and added:
"We carry out R&D and production activities for land, sea, air, underwater, near-space, and hopefully, in the future, space projects. One of our product lines is for rail systems. We started with the first products for Kayseri Transportation Inc. Then came Samsun, followed by Gaziantep, Istanbul, the Istanbul Metro, and TCDD for railway transportation. We also collaborated on different projects with Turkish Rail System Vehicles Industry Inc. (TÜRASAŞ). Through these projects, we have become the largest battery manufacturer for rail systems in Türkiye. This is a highly valuable and growing sector in our country. From light rail transit to metro systems, we now offer a wide range of battery products with different features for railway transportation."
"Although these batteries are somewhat large in volume and weight, they are durable batteries that require no maintenance, work for many years, and can perform under harsh conditions such as high and low temperatures and vibration. Their most essential feature is their performance in the field."
Özdemir emphasized that they have succeeded in producing a wide range of cells, from nickel-cadmium batteries to today’s rechargeable cylindrical lithium-ion cells, and stated that Türkiye has transformed from a battery-importing country into an exporting one.
He concluded by saying that the company still has many goals and projects ahead, and they have proven to everyone that it is possible to produce batteries not only in the Far East but also in Europe and Türkiye.
