National Defense Strengthens with ASPİLSAN Enerji's Cell and Batteries

One of the key players in the Turkish defense sector, ASPİLSAN Enerji, provides the energy requirements of the Turkish Armed Forces with the lithium-ion battery manufacturing facility it developed with an investment of almost 1.5 billion Turkish Liras.
The Turkish Armed Forces Foundation owns a 98 percent stake in ASPİLSAN Enerji, which The Turkish Armed Forces Foundation (TAFF) through producing batteries and batteries designed specifically for military equipment.

Cell and batteries are created in around 400 different varieties
The facility manufactures almost 400 different types of batteries, including batteries for the radio, night vision, mixer, anti-tank, and robotic systems used by the Turkish Armed Forces, as well as batteries for mine sweeping-bomb demolition, missile and guidance kits, and anti-torpedo.
The mass manufacture of lithium-ion batteries has begun, according to Ferhat Özsoy, General Manager of ASPİLSAN Enerji, whose facility's foundation was built in the Mimarsinan Organized Industrial Zone in October 2020.
Özsoy claimed that the factory cost roughly 1.5 billion liras to build and that the Turkish Armed Forces Foundation, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and benefactors all made significant contributions to its construction.
Özsoy, fabrikanın stratejik bir tesis olduğunu, TSK’nın önemli bir ihtiyacı olan pil ve bataryaların yerli üretimiyle ilgili çok önemli bir aşamanın geride bırakıldığını dile getirdi.

"With our investments, we will soon increase this capability."
Özsoy described the characteristics of the building as follows: "The factory was built to generate 21 million batteries annually. With our investments, we will soon increase this capability. Once more, in the upcoming period, we will be constructing batteries of various structures to suit the defense needs of our nation. We'll reduce our reliance on imports of batteries and cells. This is the basic idea behind what we're doing. Every day, our production capacity grows as well.
Özsoy emphasized that the cylindrical batteries made in the factory are specifically utilized in the defense industry, in radios, and in a variety of portable devices in the civilian sector, including electric bicycles, vacuum cleaners, and energy storage systems.
"It is our largest ambition to see this technology in the domestic and national TOGG," Özsoy stated, reiterating their intention to contribute to the domestic vehicle TOGG in the future.
Özsoy highlighted that Türkiye is currently moving quickly toward being a battery country and that considerable work is being done there to produce the basic materials for batteries.
According to significant research on cells and batteries, Türkiye will grow to be a significant supplier of batteries to Europe due to its access to raw materials and its manufacturing capabilities.
According to Özsoy, Türkiye's production of rechargeable batteries will hasten the development of other technologies while also significantly bolstering the nation's independence.
ASPİLSAN Enerji is attempting to become one of the top battery producers in the world with the assistance of the state, Özsoy continued, noting that research and development studies are ongoing.
