Turkcell continues to contribute to the development of environmentally friendly technology in our country through its innovative collaborations, turning the sustainability approach into one of the key focuses in all business activities with the motto "For a better world." Turkcell has also struck an important future-oriented partnership with ASPİLSAN Enerji, which manufactures lithium batteries, to encourage the optimal use of national resources with domestic technology.

In the context of long-term environmental awareness, the use of environmentally friendly, long-lasting, and reliable electrochemical lithium batteries, rather than the chemical lead acid (VRLA) batteries previously used in communication network energy infrastructure systems, is rapidly spreading around the world. In response to this shift in the world, ASPİLSAN Enerji, a subsidiary of the Turkish Armed Forces Foundation, and Turkcell teamed up to develop the essential indigenous products in Turkey. The collaboration, which began in 2019, has already produced its first products, which will fulfill the needs of communication networks, as part of domestic lithium battery production studies.

As part of the project, Turkcell's base stations, which have been providing communication infrastructure services and containing various equipment configurations since October 2021, have successfully tested prototype lithium battery products designed and produced by ASPİLSAN Enerji's R&D engineers at 48V 100Ah standards. The Turkcell network is still working on implementing domestic lithium batteries, which will be made by ASPİLSAN Enerji.

In this context, we began working with ASPİLSAN Enerji on lithium battery technology by sharing technical information and prototyping product concepts, which we then refined through workshops, demo manufacturing, and factory testing. Our collaboration was then bolstered by the positive findings of field tests on the Turkcell network. Starting this year, ASPİLSAN Enerji will mass produce the developed lithium batteries and ensure their use in Turkcell's network architecture."
