ASPİLSAN Enerji is introducing new national solutions for uninterrupted energy

ASPİLSAN Enerji aims to solidify its success with new products, building on its achievements in the export market with national battery cells, batteries, and batteries.

Ahmet Turan Özdemir, the General Manager of ASPİLSAN Enerji, stated in his announcement that 2023 started with an earthquake and continued as an economically challenging year. Despite this, he mentioned that as a company, they diversified their production and closed the year with new product exports.

Referring to the experiences gained from the earthquake disaster leading to the development of new products, Özdemir stated that they aim to enter the market with these products in 2024.

Highlighting their success in exporting lithium-ion battery cells to the Middle East and Europe, Özdemir emphasized that they have made a pioneering move in battery production and export in Türkiye. He also mentioned that they have completed transportation certification processes to export battery cells to the American market, indicating that their export routes will now focus on America.

Özdemir pointed out that energy is an area that attracts the attention of investors and has a lot of needs, stating that there is a demand for portable or fixed energy storage solutions ranging from cells used in electronic circuit designs to megawatt-level systems.

Explaining that ASPİLSAN Enerji has products and designs for some fixed solutions such as portable energy storage systems and telecommunication batteries, Özdemir said:

“Our designs in this direction will continue. The earthquake showed us that people can postpone their needs such as shelter and nutrition for a while, but they cannot tolerate the interruption of communication with the authorities and their relatives during the coordination phase of the earthquake. In emergency situations, there are requirements for the network to work properly, for communication devices to work, and for devices to work in hospitals and health clinics. When you count these, we are talking about storage units, large and small, with different energy requirements and different capacities. We closely follow the needs of our country and the world in this field. The cell we produce is a preferred product to meet needs as portable energy systems because its energy density is high. In addition, systems with relatively low energy density but slightly heavier are suitable for fixed storage systems.”

National products entered new sectors

Ahmet Turan Özdemir said that the batteries carried by the soldier, placed on the vehicle, used in naval platforms, submarine platforms, land platforms, air and space platforms, wind and solar energy systems have different types, capacities and characteristics.

Özdemir stated that in addition to the products they create, from raw materials to battery cell, from battery cell to battery, from battery to system, to package, they create battery designs with different cells they obtain from the market, taking into account the safety, budget and usage needs of customers.

Özdemir stated that they produce batteries work in many different environments and conditions, from submarines to aircraft.

Özdemir stated that they designed tailor-made batteries suitable for budgets offered with different chemicals and made the following evaluations:

"We aim primarily to meet the needs of our heroic army. We are also working to expand our presence in the civilian market. We had a successful process in our adventure with Turkcell and Türk Telekom with the telecommunication battery in 2023. Again, we crowned this battery with export. In order for the network not to go silent and for the network to survive in natural disasters, fires and war situations, they must have "back up" batteries. We need these solutions if we want to create systems that will meet their own energy, independent of the grid, in remote locations for both military and civilian needs. ASPİLSAN is one of the providers of these solutions. We will diversify this process, which started with telecommunications, with independent energy storage systems."

Stating that energy needs should be met in camping and nature activities, as well as in tents and containers in the earthquake zone, Özdemir stated that an R&D team of 75 people is working on charging these systems with alternative sources. Here, we make designs according to customer needs and the dynamics of the industry and develop them with our customers. In 2024, you will see our products within the framework I mentioned. We are working on these. I hope 2024 will be a more successful year for us and our country. We believe this wholeheartedly. He evaluated that we will put our diversified portfolio into the field by prioritizing customer satisfaction."

Preparation for the "Battery Manufacturer of the Region" mission

Pointing out that the European Union wants to establish a self-sufficient structure in battery and battery technologies, ASPİLSAN Enerji General Manager Ahmet Turan Özdemir said that they are carrying out certification and production quality studies to ensure the necessary standards to take part here.

Stating that they will be ready when the regulations of Europe and the USA are put into effect to export their products, Özdemir said there are some sensitivities in Europe, from the cell to the system. As a company, we are making great efforts with our team to prepare for this process.

Emphasizing that their biggest goal is to add new export successes, Özdemir said:

Türkiye has a mission to become a battery manufacturer in its region. We are working on this mission. For developing this ecosystem in our country, ASPİLSAN does not only produce battery cells. It also meets with raw material producers, machinery manufacturers, universities and researchers. It serves as an active player, regardless of commercial concerns, on how we can serve our country, from raw materials to recycling and recovery, and how we can provide this chain.

If there will a battery manufacturer in our country, which I believe, we will be. We will extract our raw material, process it and turn it into active material, produce electrodes and batteries from it, close the battery and turn it into a battery with its electronic circuits and software. After evaluating our end-of-life batteries in secondary areas of use, we need to create chain management that will reuse them in processes through recycling and recovery. At this point, we are working actively with all our efforts.
