ASPİLSAN Enerji Meets the Electricity Need of 200 Tent, Tent City in Narlıca, Hatay

ASPİLSAN Enerji, the establishment of the Turkish Armed Forces Foundation, meets the electricity needs of a tent city thanks to the solar panels it installed in Hatay.

ASPİLSAN Enerji, which offers energy solutions to many sectors, meets the electricity needs of the tent city where approximately 2 thousand earthquake victims live, thanks to the solar panels they installed in Hatay.

ASPİLSAN officials, the organization of the Turkish Armed Forces Foundation, took action to meet the electricity needs of the regions centred in Kahramanmaraş, where great destruction was experienced in the earthquakes that occurred on February 6th.

Panels were installed to meet the electricity needs of a tent city in Kahramanmaraş in the first days of the earthquake and were moved to the tent city in the Narlıca District of Hatay, where 200 tents, due to the end of the need there.

The 100 kWh system installed in the tent city in the Narlıca District meets the individual electricity use of 2,000 earthquake victims and the lighting needs of that region.

Ferhat Özsoy, General Manager of ASPİLSAN Enerji, said that they were working on storing solar energy while constructing the energy storage system.

Explaining that they immediately took action after the earthquake, Özsoy said:

“In this context, we have designed a small energy storage system for the defence industry, especially to use at border posts or detached police stations. We tried this at a police station in Kilis. Following the end of this test period, we brought this system to ASPİLSAN Enerji. This sad event occurred. What can we do in an earthquake? When we thought that we could meet the energy needs, especially in connection with the establishment of tent cities, we immediately coordinated with AFAD and prepared the system. After that, we sent it to Kahramanmaraş.”

Özsoy, 10 gün Kahramanmaraş’ta hizmet veren sistemi orada ihtiyaç kalmayınca talep doğrultusunda Hatay’a taşıdıklarını dile getirdi.

Özsoy stated that they will move this system to another place as there is no need for them in their region.

Emphasizing that they also developed a mini storage device called “Turna” after the earthquakes, Özsoy said, “This is an important energy storage device. You can both get electricity like a city current and charge your mobile phone by taking direct current (DC). It has been specially designed for the benefit of our citizens here. It can also be used as a beacon. We designed and brought it to the region in about a week. We will produce and send in series. Our citizens in the region will be using it.”.
